I still can't quite believe you're no longer here. Today it's two years since you left us, giving us all a lesson in life, fighting to the very end. As I promised myself, I'm going to try, on every anniversary, to make people stop for a few minutes and give them to your memory, or to reflection. You deserve that and so much more. It's astonishing how much you help me from your photo on my bedside table, your little face watching me in silence. From your peaceful gaze, you remind me that no problem is that important, that, except for death, everything is relative. When a problem is tormenting me, I look at your photo and somehow I relax; nothing is that important, you have to take a more otherworldly view, be less bitter and enjoy more, because tomorrow it could all be over. You've become my talisman. It's clear that you have to fill life with things that truly make us happy and make us feel whole and proud, you have to be content and sure of what you're doing in every moment because you never know when our hour will come... In the end, it's about being at peace with yourself. When I look back, I want to feel proud and satisfied with my life; the only sorrow is that you won't be here with me to share it. Your hour came when no one expected it, you had thousands of plans and left many things unfinished in Murcia and you see, you left and life went on, the world didn't stop. Those matters you had weren't as important as you believed. What you and I did miss was one last goodbye conversation, I'll always miss that until we meet again. That's what has been able to torment me most all this time, that we didn't say goodbye telling each other how much we loved one another. I missed your last words, your last pieces of advice. Mónica, we miss your silly laugh and your "loads, loads, loads"! I send you a great big kiss with all the love I have. ❤️
